The Solos Forum web site requires cookies to be enabled to function correctly.

    1. What is a cookie?

A cookie is a small amount of data, which often includes a unique identifier that is sent to your computer or mobile phone (referred to here as a "device") browser from a website's computer and is stored on your device's hard drive. Each website can send its own cookie to your browser if your browser's preferences allow it, but (to protect your privacy) your browser only permits a website to access the cookies it has already sent to you, not the cookies sent to you by other websites. Many websites do this whenever a user visits their website in order to track online traffic flows.

Users have the opportunity to set their devices to accept all cookies, to notify them when a cookie is issued, or not to receive cookies at any time. The last of these means that certain personalized features cannot then be provided to that user and accordingly they may not be able to take full advantage of all of the website's features. Each browser is different, so check the "Help" menu of your browser to learn how to change your cookie preferences.

During the course of any visit to a Solos Holidays website, the pages you see, along with a cookie, are downloaded to your device. Many websites do this, because cookies enable website publishers to do useful things like find out whether the device (and probably its user) has visited the website before. This is done on a repeat visit by checking to see, and finding, the cookie left there on the last visit.

    b. How do Solos Holidays use cookies?

Information is passed from your profile as a cookie to enable the forum to display previous forum posts to you. Also cookies keep your session alive when navigating between pages and also enable automatic log-in if you have taken the option for the web site to remember your username and/or password.

Solos Holidays use a number of independent measurement and research companies. They gather information regarding the visitors to Solos websites on our behalf using cookies, log file data and code which is embedded on our website. Solos Holidays use this type of information to help improve the services it provides to its users. No personal data is collected and all data is purely statistical.

    c. Third Party Cookies on Solos Holidays web pages

Please note that during your visits to a Solos Holidays website you may notice some cookies that are not related to Solos Holidays. This occurs when you visit a page with content embedded from, for example, YouTube or Flickr, when you may be presented with cookies from these websites. Solos Holidays does not control the dissemination of these cookies. You should check the third party websites for more information about these.

Solos Holidays will not use cookies to collect personally identifiable information about you. However, if you wish to restrict or block the cookies which are set by Solos Holidays websites, or indeed any other website, you can do this through your browser settings. The Help function within your browser should tell you how.

Alternatively, you may wish to visit
www.aboutcookies.org which contains comprehensive information on how to do this on a wide variety of browsers. You will also find details on how to delete cookies from your computer as well as more general information about cookies. For information on how to do this on the browser of your mobile phone you will need to refer to your handset manual.

Please be aware that restricting cookies may impact on the functionality of the Solos Holidays and Solos Forum websites.

Solos Holidays websites contain hyperlinks to websites owned and operated by third parties. These third party websites have their own privacy policies, including cookies, and we urge you to review them. They will govern the use of personal information which you submit or is collected by their cookies whilst visiting these websites. We do not accept any responsibility or liability for the privacy practices of such third party websites and your use of such websites is at your own risk.

If you have ever wanted to know how to enter symbols into your post, then the table below shows you how!

You will need a UK Enhanced Keyboard (one with the numerical keypad to the right of the standard keyboard). Simply hold down the Alt key with your left hand and enter the corresponding number on the numerical keypad. When you release the Alt key, the symbol should appear.

This works for most applications and web sites, including Facebook.
