Hi, I’m going on my 1st trip with Solos, would be nice to hear from anybody going.

Stayed at the Aphrodite New Year with Solo’s, the course is great the par 3 seventh is an interesting hole, you play across a valley. The hotel is great, you just need the weather to behave, on all the the solo’s holidays I’ have been on, and I’ have been on lots, there is always a good crowd with plenty of laughs.
    have a great time

Thanks for the reply Roy, I’m nervous about going on my own, guess everyone is !!!
I went on holiday with my golf club but most were couples so thought I’d give Solos a go.
      Cheers

It’s normal to feel nervous first time but the Solos rep are with you the the whole time, and everyone is in the same boat, on there own. A lot of the golf is team golf, so easy to make friends.
        Have a great holiday

Thanks a lot Roy, I’m looking forward to it. Strangers are just friends we haven’t met yet.

            Hello Christine

I can completely endorse everything that Roy says, and you are right about friends and strangers. I've been going on Solos holidays for five years now and generally go on three a year, all golf holidays. Everyone makes you welcome and we are all in the same boat, so its absolutely fine. They are generally well organised and a lot of fun. Everyone socialises and mixes well. You'll enjoy it. I've not been to Cyprus before, but I know people who have, and they say that its great, good courses, but yes, the weather can misbehave, so be prepared for that. Otherwise, just enjoy it. I'll see you there, and I'm looking forward to the trip already. Rob

              Hi Rob,
Thanks for the reply and I’m looking forward to it to.
The last Golf holiday I went on was with my golf club to Tenerife but most of the people were couples so I thought I’d give Solos a go. I shared a room on my previous holiday, which was far from ideal but it would have cost me another £300 to have a single room.
Solos phoned this evening asking about my handicap, it is 14 but I’ve hardly played for a year and half as I’ve been caring for my father.
Sadly he passed away just before Christmas but I know he would be delighted that I’m off on this holiday.
See you soon, here’s hoping we get a good week of weather. 😃
              Cheers
              Chris

                Hi Christine
Glad you're looking forward to it, me too. I know what you mean about other holidays being small groups or couples, that's not an issue on solos holidays, everyone is going as a single traveller. Likewise single room charges, they don't exist!
I'm sorry to hear about your father, my condolences, and you're right, he would have been delighted that you're going I'm sure.
As regards to you not having played much of late, don't let that be an issue on your mind, all of the daily competitions are organised by the Tour Leader, and played as Team games, not singles, which gives everyone chance to contribute to the score or have a bad hole. The teams are generally mixed as far as possible and new teams are made up each day, so you get to play with lots of different people, but not necessarily everyone.
I hope that helps a bit more.
See you soon and looking forward to it. Keep an eye on that weather for us. LOL

                Kind regards
                Rob

                  Hi Rob,
Thanks again for your response, not long now 😃
Unfortunately I have to play with other people at the Elea Estate course, on 27/2, I booked quite late and they couldn’t fit me in with the tee times booked by Solos.
I am teeing off at 09:30, the group start teeing off at 09:40, it is a shame but I wasn’t going to miss the holiday for that.
It just means I will be in the bar before everyone else 🍷.
                  🤞🤞🤞 for good weather.
                  Cheers
                  Chris

                    Hi Christine
Noo, not long now :-) Looking forward to it, concentrated practice now LOL
Thats a shame about Elea Estate, and a bit weird, my information is that there are 22 people going on the holiday. Given that we play in four balls, that means we have 5 four balls and a 2 ball, so there should be space for you in the Solos booked times. A shame if you cant play with the group and compete along with everyone else. Not a holiday stopper as you say. BUt I cant see that its necessary to do that to you. Watch the space, it might change once you get there.
You realise that whoever get to the bar first buys the drinks for everyone else yeah? LOL
Absolutely good weather, lol, its not currently looking brilliant, but hay, ten days yet.
                    Cheers Chris

                      Hi Rob,
My understanding is that there are 14 women and 8 men but I’m assuming the tour leader plays as well so that would make 23 but perhaps she’s included in the 14 women ?
As you say, a bit weird but maybe it may change.
Got my euros this afternoon, perhapsI should have got more to cover that round. 😬
I know I’ll get drinks for everyone, after 5pm, back at the hotel., I’m generous like that.
                      Chris
I’m sure the weather will be fine 🤞

                        Hi Chris,
How was your first Solo’s holiday, did the weather behave and did you enjoy the courses, the seventh at the Aphrodite is an interesting hole with the switchback path to the tee, and the tee shot across the valley.

                          Hi Roy,

Had a lovely holiday thanks, a really good group of people.
We were lucky with the weather as had no rain, it was very windy & very cold on 1 day but mainly warm and sunny.

I cleared the 7th on both rounds and got nearest the pin on the final round, probably the best shot I played 😃
It is a spectacular hole that’s for sure, I’ve showed a photo to non golfer friends and they can’t believe it.
My favourite course was Secret Valley, possibly as I played quite well and it was a perfect day weather wise.

Unfortunately my back went on the last day and I struggled to complete the round, managed to limp my way back home and now hoping it will recover with a few days rest.

Got a major holiday in Canada , in June, so will probably be looking at next winter for my next golfing holiday.

                          Cheers Chris
